Facilities that rely on health care administrators for leadership include hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, pharmaceutical companies, health insurance companies and long-term care facilities.

Medical assistants perform administrative duties, including answering telephones, updating and filing patients’ medical records, filling out insurance forms, handling correspondence, scheduling appointments, arranging for hospital admission and laboratory services.

Pharmacy Technicians receive written prescriptions or requests for prescription refills from patients. They also may receive prescriptions sent electronically from the doctor’s office. They must verify that the information on the prescription is complete and accurate.

Health Claims Examiners organize and manage health information data by ensuring that it maintains its quality, accuracy, accessibility, and security in both paper files and electronic systems.

Phlebotomists are medical professionals who work in a variety of settings collecting blood using proper techniques and standard precautions.

Continuing pharmacy education is “a structured educational activity designed or intended to support the continuing development of pharmacists and/or pharmacy technicians to maintain and enhance their competence.”
